Kick Game: Nike Air Foamposite One “Shooting Stars” PE [More Images]

Last week, we provided what was an All-Star recap of some jewels Penny let out the bag himself! Today, we revisit as more images leaked via NiceKicks.com.

This players edition pair features a white Foamposite upper, white stars over a black what seems to be nubuck outer trim and royal blue lining. The hottest part to me is the insole, where a Magic-inspired Penny tagging and mantra stamping lay on on the right shoe, while on the left, the phrase "Ballin Is What I Was Born To Do." The sole is highlighted by blue and white stars. Dope.

Breaking TMZ Report: Murder At Rick Ross' Home?!

Police wish to speak with William Leonard Roberts II otherwise known as rapper, Rick Ross. Apparently, a 40-year-old man was shot to death in front of his Miami Gardens home this morning ... TMZ has learned.

Local law enforcement reports Roberts was NOT home during the time of the unfortunate occurrence and at this point in the investigation, he's not considered a suspect.

At the current moment, investigators are not sure if the victim has any connection to Rozay, however Ricky is listed as the owner of the property. MMG has yet to comment.

Not a good look. SCREAMATME.com will keep you updated.

Happy Sadie Hawkins Day!

Sadie Hawkins Day is real day, February 29th, when it is "socially acceptable" I guess for women to ask men out. Inspired by a fictional series of events in Al Capp's classic hillbilly comic strip, Li'l Abner (1934–1978) - pictured above.

In Li'l Abner, Sadie Hawkins was the daughter of one of Dogpatch's earliest settlers, Hekzebiah Hawkins. The "homeliest gal in all them hills", she grew frantic waiting for suitors to come a-courtin'. When she reached the age of 35, still a spinster, her father was even more frantic—about Sadie living at home for the rest of her life. In desperation, he called together all the unmarried men of Dogpatch and declared it "Sadie Hawkins Day". Specifically, a foot race was decreed, with Sadie in hot pursuit of the town's eligible bachelors—and matrimony as the consequence.

The 2012 NBA All-Star weekend wrapped up last night with stellar performances from both sides. The final? 152-149, in an exciting "down-to-the-second," match up. Kevin Durant secured the MVP award, with an impressive 36-point and 7 rebound effort, Kobe Bryant made history, and LeBron James showed off a bit in the second half...even though I'm sure he'll get his fair share of criticism over the next few hours to weeks. #Kobe Broke His Nose, along with a Record!

Not only was Kobe breaking records Sunday night, but a CT Scan after the game revealed he broke his nose! Kobe will be seen by a specialist today, to determine how serious the Nasal Fracture is. He hurt his nose after a foul from Dwayne Wade, which drew blood, Bryant got his nose plugged, and finished the game.

Kobe needed 19 points to pass Michael Jordan on the All Time, All Star game scoring list. Kobe finished the game with 27 points, becoming the All Time leading scorer. On his way to the record he also passed Oscar Robertson, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Bryant is a 14 time all star, and is tied with KG for most all star appearances.

Dwayne Wade said this about Kobe, "Tonight, he does what he normally does," Wade said of Bryant. "He got 27. He's Kobe Bryant. He scores the ball. He's a tough cover. But it's great being a little piece of history. He's one of the best of all time. We will one day say we had the honor of playing against one of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball."

Andre 3000 of hip-hop MEGA-group, Outkast, sat down with GQ Magazine...

Andre 3000: There’s been a lot of talk on the Internet about an OutKast album and I have to say that as of now, there are no plans for another OutKast album. There’s a lot of music on the horizon. I’ve been living off the excitement of new artists. I’ve been privileged to have these new artists kind of reach out and grab back and say, “Hey, Andre, we want you on this song.” So I’ve been taking those calls and for the last two years, I’ve been doing collaborations. So these new artists have kind of been keeping me alive. I’ve just really been feeding off of that and this year I think I’m planning to do a solo project. I don’t know when it will come out, but hopefully it’ll come out this year. As far as OutKast, I really don’t know if or when that will happen.

GQ: What’s the new solo album going to be like?

Andre 3000: The only thing I can really say is I’m going to get back to having fun because that’s what it was all about when I started this in high school—with OutKast—those were like high school dreams. I’m 36 now, so I have grown-man dreams. This album will just be me being myself as normal.

You know how valuable our nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities are, and how much they have contributed to our country’s growth in so many ways. What could be more worthwhile than being part of helping preserve and improve some of America’s most historic campuses and landmarks?

This year, we’ve expanded the program. We are introducing a new $25,000 Campus Pride Grant for the school that shows the most initiative in promoting their proposals and garnering votes. We are also providing an additional $10,000 Tier II Grant. In all, we’ve increased the total grant funds available to $185,000.

Last year, we awarded grants totaling $150,000 to HBCUs. A $50,000 Tier I Grant went to Bethune-Cookman University to help upgrade their Student Center with wheelchair ramps and barrier-free automatic access doors in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Ten additional schools received $10,000 each for a variety of projects, from landscaping to lighting to irrigation.

During the first one hundred years of its existence, Lincoln graduated approximately 20 percent of the Black physicians and more than 10 percent of the Black attorneys in the United States. Its alumni have headed over 35 colleges and universities and scores of prominent churches. At least 10 of its alumni have served as United States ambassadors or mission chiefs. Many are federal, state and municipal judges, and several have served as mayors or city managers.

Allen Iverson. Do Remember.

Prelude

There has been a ton of "coverage" more recently about Allen Iverson and his personal and professional "meltdowns." Unfortunately that is the nature of media. I guess as I compose this post, I serve as a member of the ILLustrious group. We sometimes pry for stories and create stories from the same place we dispose of our feces. It happens everyday. Sue them. Not me. Digression. In the midst of all of these "Allen Iverson is broke, and has to go back to playing JV basketball" reports...I wanted to take sometime out to remind you of the Allen Iverson I remember. The Answer.

It's not everyday you get to witness greatness.

Chapter 1: The Introduction.

On June 26, 1996 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the Philadelphia 76ers selected Allen Iverson with the 1st OVERALL Pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. For the next decade, Allen Iverson would raise HELL in the National Basketball Association - both on and off the court, break not only records, but Sir Michael Jordan's ankles in an unforgettable 16-second match up, and single-handedly lead his team to an NBA Finals appearance...all the while rocking a Philadelphia 76ers jersey.

Chapter 2: Disclaimed.

Now, my SCREAMATME.com partner and a few of my closest friends are actually Kobe Bryant fans. Which is fine. But I have always been an Allen Iverson fan...and will continue to believe he is the greatest player I've ever seen play - throughout an entire career.

BREAKER: I have to exclude Michael Jordan. Yes, he was the greatest player to ever touch a basketball. He's done amazing things. However, as a 24-year old basketball enthusiast, Jordan was DRAFTED 3 years before I was born. I missed a lot of his damage and have to depend on highlights, reports and sneakers as proof of the Michael Jordan Massacre pre - I'd say the 1992-93 season. Word to Shaq x Penny for truly introducing me to the game.

More digression. There has been a ton of unfair comparisons of A.I. and Kobe Bryant. My not-so-bold statement of the week: Allen Iverson was a better INDIVIDUAL basketball player than Kobe Bryant.

Chapter 3: The Breakdown.

Iverson outplayed Bryant throughout his rookie year and would go on to have not only done that, but record one of the best rookie seasons in NBA history averaging 24 ppg and 8 apg, locking up the 1997 NBA Rookie Of The Year Awards. Bryant who came straight out of high school averaged 7.6 ppg and played only 15 mpg for (in his defense) an already deep Lakers squad. Sophomore year, Kobe would up those totals and average 15.4 ppg and 2.5 apg. Allen Iverson didn't play as well in his second season as he did in his rookie year but he still did his thing averaging 22 ppg and 6 apg. The following year, Michael Jordan would announce his retirement, signaling the GREEN for the likes of future NBA Superstars Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant.

To date, Allen Iverson has gone on to...
- Win the 1997 Rookie of the year award
- Win the 2001 NBA MVP
- Win 4 scoring titles (becoming one of only four players: in league history to capture four+ scoring titles)
- Win 3 steals titles
- Be selected to 11 All-Star games and win 2 All-Star game MVP Awards (2001, 2005)

For his career, has scored 30+ points 345 times, including 40+ 79 times and 50 or more 11 times with a high of 60 against the Orlando Magic on February 12, 2005. Iverson has amazing career averages of 27 ppg and 6.2 apg along with 2.2 spg. He scored 24,368 points and had 5624 career assists in just 914 career games.

To date, Kobe Bryant has went on to...
- Win 5 NBA Championships
- Win the 2010 and 2009 Finals' MVP Awards
- Win the 2008 NBA MVP
- Win 2 scoring titles
- Be selected to 14 All-Star games and win 4 All-Star game MVP Awards (2002, 2007, 2009, 2011).

Not to mention the 13 All-NBA Teams (nine times to the All-NBA First Team) and 11 All-Defensive Teams (nine times to the All-Defensive First Team) he's made. In 1,132 career games Bryant has scored 28,699 points. Very impressive.

Comparing Allen Iverson's NBA tenure to Kobe Bryant's is - at this point, with Allen Iverson's basketball career dwindling, and Kobe's 4 year up on A.I.'s - unfair. However, considering the time period where Allen Iverson was regularly playing NBA games, the two are close but Kobe is the hands down winner ONLY DUE to those 5 Championships.

Another not-so-bold statement here: Iverson would probably have won MULTIPLE Championships if he had as adequate a supporting cast and as much opportunity as Bryant had in his prime and an "Iverson and Shaq combo in the early 2000's could have been the most dominant 1-2 punch in the history of sports." Agreed.

So yes Kobe Bryant has had a better overall career than Allen Iverson...however one can argue if you disregard team success, Iverson was probably the better player individually then Bryant.

Chapter 4: Look What I've Found

An excerpt from Antwan Brown (of bleacherreport.com), Was Allen Iverson a Better Individual Player Than Kobe Bryant?

Iverson's career stats of 27 ppg, 6.2 apg, 2.2 spg and 3.7 rpg are better then Bryant's 25.3 ppg, 4.7 apg and 5.3 rpg. In the playoffs Iverson averaged 30 ppg(2nd all-time) and 6.0 apg which beat out Bryant's 25 ppg and 4.7 apg, but the playoffs are all about winning championships and Bryant did that better than most players the league has seen, clearly Bryant had much more playoff success. Bryant and Iverson both have played 14 seasons in the league and the year by year breakdown comparing their statistics and individual accomplishments may give you a better idea of who was a better individual player:

1996-97:

Iverson: 23.5 ppg, 7.5 apg, 2.1 spg and 4.1 rpg. 96-97 Rookie of the year.

Bryant: 7.6 ppg, 1.3 apg, 0.7 spg and 1.9 rpg.

Winner: Iverson

1997-98:

Iverson: 22.0 ppg, 6.0 apg, 3.7 rpg, 2.2 spg.

Bryant: 15.4 ppg, 2.5 apg, 3.1 rpg, 0.9 spg.

Winner: Iverson

1998-99:

Iverson: 26.8 ppg, 2.3 spg, 4.6 apg, 5.0 rpg. Wins 1999 scoring title.

Bryant: 19.9 ppg, 1.4 spg, 5.3 rpg, 3.8 spg.

Winner: Iverson

1999-00:

Iverson: 28.4 ppg, 4.7 apg, 3.8 apg, 2.1 spg.

What If Kobe and Shaq Would Have Worked???

As a Lakers fan, the beginning of the new millenium was great! The Lakers won back to back to back NBA Championships behind the duo of Shaq and Kobe. Also with most of my friends being Sixers fans, and to see the duo destroy their beloved Sixers lead by Allen Iverson, is a remarkable memory. The two went on to win 3 NBA Titles, and 4 Finals appearances in a row.

Since then the two split like a highschool couple, full of drama and BullSh*t, Shaq has won 1 title in 1 NBA Finals appearance. Kobe has won 2 titles, in 3 finals appearances. This leads us to wonder what would have happened if the 2 made it work? Would they have 4,5,6 or 7 titles together? One thing is for sure, we would not have the great legacy of Kobe Bryant.

After the split, many people said he would never win without Shaq, INCLUDING Shaq. The ability to prevail through the doubt, and go on to win 2 more NBA Titles. (5 total) He also became the Lakers All-Time scoring leader. Kobe also passed Shaq on the NBA All-Time Scoring list on February 6, in his hometown against the Philadelphia 76ers. Kobe will now go down as one of the best players the NBA has EVER seen. Whether you like him or not, their is no way you can doubt the skill, work ethic, and mental/physical toughness he has shown NBA fans for nearly 2 decades!

So on a personal level for Mr. Bryant, I guess he made the right move by not fighting to keep Shaq in L.A. But damn WHAT IF???

Allen Iverson Hoping for a NBA Return

Iverson was one of the most entertaining basketball players, and prolific scorers to ever play this game! He changed the culture of the NBA. But his loyalty to his friends, stubborn ways, and "remaining true to who he is" haunted him in the long run. Sources close to Allen Iverson are stating that he is willing to play Minor League Basketball, if it can lead him back to the NBA.

Iverson is in debt for over $800k to a Philadelphia jeweler. He is ordered by the courts to sacrifice his wages, the only problem is he has none! Iverson reportedly earned over $150 million over his NBA career, with NOTHING to show for it financially.

Iverson was almost a member of the Los Angeles Lakers this season. The Lakers were willing to sign the Ex NBA MVP, but his pride got the best of him. The Lakers wanted him to start out as a member of their developmental (D-League) squad, the LA Defenders, and Iverson refused.

2012 Grammys: The Simply Inspiring and the Plain Hot Mess

For the first time in a long time, I chose to tune into the Grammys. I was curious to know how they would handle the sudden and untimely passing of the pop icon, Whitney Houston. I also was looking forward to hearing Adele sing live again and was wanted to see how many awards the Brit would walk away with. The night started off with a few glitches. LL Cool J appeared uncomfortable and did not fit into the mode of a poised Grammy host. It appeared that he was completely dependent on the teleprompter as his guide. I have a strong feeling that if the teleprompter would have malfunctioned, Mr. James Todd Smith would have been in shambles. I assumed he tried his best though.

There were plenty of performances throughout the night. Some were wonderful, while others were ridiculous. Bruno Mars’ performance of “Runaway Baby” was an ode to the 1950s music genre. Chris Brown sang and danced his bootay off during a compilation of his recent songs. Adele with her big hair and even bigger voice gave a truly soulful rendition of her hit “Rolling In the Deep.” I love how she does not need the 27 background dancers, the random fireworks and extravagant orchestra band to back her. She is enough on her own. She can stand on her own. Now, Ms. Nicki Minaj is a completely different story. She attempted to cause controversy before even performing onstage. The rapper walked the red carpet in a dramatic Versace red caped outfit and red satin gloves. She was also accompanied by a Pope lookalike. Once Minaj took the stage, she basically partook in an onstage exorcism. It was not only shocking but in simple poor taste. I do not think Minaj is a bad artist in total. I actually think she is a clever rapper but last night’s performance was gimmicky and offensive. Get a grip, girl!

In my opinion, there were two highlights of the night. One was Adele winning six Grammys for the night (tying with Beyonce for the most Grammys won by a female artist in a single night.) The British born star seemed really surprised and humble by the academy’s recognition of her talents. For me, the second highlight was Jennifer Hudson’s tribute to Whitney Houston. The Academy Award winning singer sang her heart out in her rendition of Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” Hudson’s performance was impeccable and heartfelt. She even shed a couple of tears. I believe she made Houston proud. Overall, this year’s Grammys were interesting in both a positive and negative way. I'll Be tuning in next year.

What We Should Remember About Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston was a pop diva who was widely considered to have the greatest voice of all time. Houston was awarded with multiple accolades including Grammys and set multiple records in the music industry. In the early 90s, she also had her share of trials and tribulations in her career including confirmed drug use and a ‘complex’ marriage with singer, Bobby Brown. It seemed that Houston’s public persona image began to decline to her personal issues. In 2009, the New Jersey native staged a storybook comeback. Her album, ‘I Look To You’ debuted at number 1 and put the former superstar back on the industry’s radar. Sadly, today Houston has passed away at the age of 48.

My belief is that instead of evaluating her dark days, we should celebrate her legacy. Every triumph in the singer’s career, every box office success and every note she sung should be remembered. Too often it seems that when public figures falter, we judge them (very harshly at times.) And not to mention, if a public figure passes away too soon, no matter how many great things he or she accomplished in their lives, we seem to discuss their struggles more. Whitney Houston was imperfect but she found strength to overcome her demons. Doesn’t that deserves an applause? Hopefully, she will now have peace.

According to the Los Angeles Associated Press, Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48.

Camp publicist Kristen Foster, reported just a few moments ago that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unclear.
In her prime, Houston was considered widely as "the golden girl" of the music industry and one of the world's best-selling artists.

Among her various hits were "How Will I Know," ''Saving All My Love for You" and "I Will Always Love You." As a Grammy-award winning artist including (album and record of the year), her success carried her beyond music and onto the big screen. See "The Bodyguard."

By the end of her career, drug use took its toll as her record sales plummeted and her voice became tarnished. Attempting to tour again, Whitney was highly criticized for her lackluster performances. She was a beautiful spirit and her legacy will always remain.

Just a few moments ago, The NBA announced the players who will make up the reserve roster for the 2012 All-Star Game to be held in Orlando on Sunday, February 26th.

The 30 head coaches of the Association selected seven players from each conference to round out the rosters, to which 10 players total had already been elected by fans.

Now you may not be a fan of basketball...or sports in general...however, we would be doing you a disservice if we didn't send out this alert: Jeremy Lin is the future of basketball.

"Linsanity!" If you get an opportunity to sit in on a Knicks match up this season at Madison Square, you may be subject to sudden outbursts of that very phrase. The 23-year old, Jeremy Lin is currently serving the dreaded and pressure filled starting point guard role of the 2011-2012 New York Knickerbockers. This Harvard, yes, THAT Harvard, University graduate didn't attend on an athletic scholarship...nor was he drafted to the NBA. That's right. Traditionally, this would be the good ol', blue collar, American work story. You know, the "Hard work and dedication pays off" -story, your grandparents love to tell. Only, this would most likely be the first of Asain-American origin. Following his four-year collegiate career, he was a unanimous first-team Ivy League selection. Lin was also a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award as the nation’s top point guard and for the John R. Wooden Award as the national player of the year.

As Jeremy would go on to ink his first deal with his hometown, Golden State Warriors after a Donnie Nelson invitation to the Dallas Mavericks Las Vegas Summer League roster, in five Summer League games, while playing both guard positions, Lin averaged 9.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.2 steals in 18.6 minutes per game and shot a team leading 54.5% from the floor. His performance was enough to not only garner offers from the Mavericks, L.A. Lakers, an undisclosed Eastern Conference club in addition to the Warriors, but to also a three-year guaranteed contract with Nike for him to watch his jersey hit shelves before he stepped foot on a live NBA court.

During the 2010-2011 season, Lin was assigned to the Warriors' D-League affiliate, the Reno Bighorns three times total. Each time, he was later recalled by the Warriors. During his final D-League stint, he competed in the NBA D-League Showcase and was named to the All-NBA D-League Showcase First Team on January 14, 2011. There he helped lead the Bighorns to a 2-0 record while averaging 21.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.5 steals. The NBA GMs noticed and the trade offers began to roll into the Warriors front office. With a firm belief that Lin was an "inexpensive, developing" asset, Golden State held tight. At least until December 9, 2011. Which is when the Warriors waived the young guard in an attempt to free up salary cap space to acquire L.A. Clippers Center, DeAndre Jordan. #Fail. Jordan would renew with the Clippers and Lin was set to rake in an $800,000 salary that would have become fully guaranteed on February 10, 2012.

On December 12, 2011, Lin was claimed off of waivers by the Houston Rockets and waived again one day before the start of the 2011–12 lockout season on December 24, 2011, in an effort to free up space to acquire Center Samuel Dalembert.On December 27th, The New York Knicks would claim Lin off of waivers after an injury to rookie guard Iman Shumpert on opening day against conference rivals, the Boston Celtics. On January 17, 2012, Lin was once again assigned to the D-League, this time the Erie BayHawks. On January 20, he recorded his first professional triple-double with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists in the BayHawks' 122–113 victory over the Maine Red Claws. Lin was recalled by the Knicks on January 23, 2012. LOL. The rest is history.

Jay-Z To Appear In 1st Rocawear Commercial

Attention, Attention: Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter will NOT be leaving Rocawear. Not gonna happen. As a matter of fact, not only should you look for the Brooklyn-bred mogul to appear in the first-ever television commercial for the brand, entitled "From Marcy to Madison Square," but he's also renewed his contract with the brand for an additional three years.

The commercial is set to occupy 30-second television spots this Spring on MTV, BET and during NBA games on TNT. It will show Jay's rags-to-riches stories and begins with him in the Marcy Projects to his recent stop at Madison Square Garden for the Watch the Throne concert.

US Weekly reports the brand that once grossed approximately $700 million on an annual basis has seen more recent sales drop to $500 million, says Neil Cole, president and CEO of Iconix, the brand group that bought the company in 2007.

But that isn't the case, according to Cole. "Are there times when he's not on tour and not in the studio where we get more time with him? Yes. And are there times when we have to work via e-mail and through other channels? Yes. But we are lucky enough to get a lot of his time and caring," he said

Breaking: L.A. Ready To Offer Kenyon Martin $2.5M Deal

A deal between Kenyon Martin and the L.A. Clippers could happen within the next few days according to our sources at the L.A. Times. Apparently, they are prepared to offer the veteran forward the mini-mid-level exception of $2.5 million. Of course, there are other interested parties including the Miami Heat, L.A. Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks. But what makes this interesting is Martin more recently met with Clips head coach Vinny Del Negro and GM Neil Olshey. I'm sure they wined and dined, but no reports of official offers as of press time.

Martin averaged 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds last season in 48 games with the Denver Nuggets. Over the past few months, he's played for Xinjiang in China, although he left the team in December he won’t be eligible to play in the NBA until after the Chinese season ends, which could be as early as Feb. 16.

Martin’s agent, Andy Miller, has said that he expects his client to make a decision by this weekend.
