I was watching Jersey Shore on my computer, and then I got some email from XXL telling me that I won their blog competition. That’s great, but I was in the middle of watching Jersey Shore. It might be the greatest reality TV show that I have ever seen (“That girl is a double bagger. You wear a bag on your face in case the bag on hers falls off.”). And now XXL is giving me deadlines? Four blog entries before the end of the week? When do I get that check? I’m all about my money. And yet, I find myself exiting the Jersey Shore window, and writing this blog, so that I can “show and prove” to XXL’s millions of readers why I should be given a voice. Shit, talk about pressure. I feel like Dre after a Detox meeting with Jimmy Iovine.

Magic At Work

When I say "Magic Johnson," what is the very first thing that comes to mind???

Maybe it's the Lakeshow, leading fast breaks with James Worthy and Kareem.

Maybe it's what seems like a lifetime "battle" (not quite sure that's the right word) with HIV/AIDS.

OR Maybe it's the NBA Analytic skills he displays night in and night out on TNT during the season.

But, here's what you should think immediately...

Magic Johnson is about his business. Earlier this week, NBA legend, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, sold his 4.5% interest in the Lakeshow. The following day, he also sold his 105 Starbucks retail locations back to the company for over $100 million! Yeah a 100 mil. Not only did these actions create a buzz among the public, but Johnson says he chose to sell purely because the deals made good business sense. And we were supposed to believe that...

Last Wednesday, the announcement was made that Magic Johnson Enterprises, along with an ownership team comprised of four local Hollywood companies and premiere North American travel retailer, Hudson Group, have been selected by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) to refresh the retail concessions program throughout 4 terminals of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The deal generates approximately 21 news, gift, book and specialty retail stores, totaling 20,716 sq ft of prime selling space in Terminals 4, 5, 7 and 8.

Magic had this to say...

“Our plan is a long-term commitment to transform the airport's current retail
concessions and turn LAX into a vibrant, modern retail destination to rival any
airport in the world."

The brains behind President Obama’s 2008 election campaign are already strategizing how to re-energize the youth and minority vote for 2012. Their answer: partner with Jay-Z. “I can’t believe you’ve finally heard the chatter about him replacing Larry Summers,” Deputy White House Press Secretary William Burton told us. “In all seriousness, keep in mind he was pretty active during the 2008 election, so I don’t think it’d surprise anyone that he would be involved again. Philadelphia Area Kid Developing into SUPERSTAR

So this weekend Bowling Green State University football team takes on Central Michigan....WHO??? yea i know, who is Bowling Green and why should i care? Bowling Green State is a school in the MAC conference located in Ohio. Yes they have a horrendous 1-7 record. So are you wondering why i would inform you of such an under achieving team? The answer is two words KAMAR JORDEN.

Kamar is 4th in the NCAA in receptions. (after losing the #1 spot last week)
He is 15th in Receiving Yards (673 yards 91 ypg)

Kamar is a local talent for the Philadelphia area, attending Penn Wood High School, and Hudson Valley Community College in New York, before taking his talents to Bowling Green.

Kamar is one of the top receivers in the nation, and this is his 1st season playing Division I football. He will only get better with time, and don't be surprised WHEN you see him on Sundays, remember where u heard it first!!!

Kamar posted a 12 reception 143 yard performance when he came home to play his hometown TEMPLE OWLS. Kamar caught a bomb over 3 people on 4th down to eventually bring the Falcons in a position to win or tie. The Falcons lost by 1 after failing a two point conversion 28-27.

Nicki Minaj Makes History

Earlier today Nicki Minaj made history, by being granted access into MTV's Top 10 MCs of 2010 list. In its fourth annual year, this year's compilation marks the first list, with a female MC occupying a spot. Solidifying the #6 spot, Nicki has seen major success this year, and I am sure there will be more to come. Her DEBUT (yup, she made this list with "no album out") album, Pink Friday, is slated to drop November 22nd, breaking street date.

Way to open up doors for younger female MCs to follow Nicki. #Homage.

Paranormal Activity 2

I swear the first one was the scariest shit I've seen since "IT," when I was younger. By the time I grew enough cojones to watch that movie again IT was utterly disappointing. That is not the case with Paranormal Activity though. I didn't even want to leave the theatre after the credits rolled. To go back home? Couldn't have paid me enough to sleep well that night.

But now we're back at it with a second installment. The 1st movie was low budget and grossed $100 million. That grants a second and possibly a third (hint, hint). I plan on seeing it this weekend. If you seen part 2, drop me a review in the comment box...

November 2010 GQ Cover

I'm a subscriber...I think you should subscribe too, if you don't already. But this "racy" November 2010 GQ cover, featuring select GLEE cast members, Lea Michele, Dianna Agron, and Cory Monteith, is stirring up quite a bit of controversy. Apparently the Parent's Television Council spoke against the cover, claiming it promotes borderline "pedophilia!"

Their argument is GQ is primarily a men's magazine (GQ = Gentleman's Quarterly), and their photo shoot "sexualizes" (is that a word?) these actresses that portray high school-aged characters...hence promoting elevated sexual feelings and views toward the girls.

Now I watch GLEE (don't judge me - WITH my mom and my girlfriend!), I don't think the show, cast, writers, or the magazine deserve this negative attention. Straight out of the gate, GLEE and GQ both are notorious for making BOLD, controversial statements via their respective avenues.

How about the Parent's Television Council should evaluate ABC Family's prime time line-up. I'm not comfortable with my 13-year old sister watching that nonsense.

Who sits on this "council," anyway??? My advice, get a real job. No, mine isn't hiring, but I know of this McDonald's...

The first page of Decoded, an innovative project that Jay has partnered with decision engine bing.com to realize, was released in Miami. Ok David Stern. Way to step up. Way to elevate the demand and sales of this shoe! I'm not sure it was on any one's radar. Let alone your league's players who are mostly endorsed by athletic footwear conglomerates.

For the first time in its 64-year history, the National Basketball Association
(NBA) has banned a new line of shoes based on the league's rule against an
"unfair competitive advantage" that increases a player's vertical leap. The
league's ban on Athletic Propulsion Labs' Concept 1 confirms the company's
claims that the shoe, with its Load ‘N LaunchTM Technology, performs as
advertised. No professional player will be allowed to wear the product in games
for the upcoming 2010-2011 NBA season.

This action comes on the 25th
anniversary of the NBA's ban on Nike's Air Jordan shoes, albeit for reasons of
their colorful appearance rather than any performance advantage.

Athletic Propulsion Labs (APL) was notified by a senior NBA official who
stated, "League rules regulate the footwear that players may wear during an NBA
game. Under league rules, players may not wear any shoe during a game ‘that
creates an undue competitive advantage (e.g., to increase a player's vertical
leap).' In light of that rule...players will not be permitted to wear the APL
shoes during NBA games."

Tablet Makes Its Mark

Stamford, Connecticut-based, information technology research and advisory firm, Gartner, Inc., predicts that global tablet sales will reach (and possibly surpass) 19.5 million units sold com the close of 2010. Of course, that figured is mostly powered by Apple's iPad...the addition of other tablets will certainly boost the prediction. They also predict, overall tablet sales will approach 54.8 million units by the end of 2011 and surpass 208 million by 2014.

Talk about moving units...

These tablets could change the future. What's going to happen to higher-end smartphones? Feel free to chime in #TeamBlackberry and #Teamiphone. What happens to immobile, computer-based jobs and organizations? The tablet "rush," will create a certain level of mobility and efficiency.

Gartner Research Vice President Carolina Milanesi said consumers should view tablets as an "older sibling of the smartphone" rather than the "younger sibling of a PC."

#ShotsFired at the Pentagon?!

The U.S. Department of Defense has reported and confirmed that there were at least five shots fired at the Pentagon's southside third and fourth windows, earlier this morning around 4:50am. This section of the building was vacant due to renovation efforts during the time of the incident. Steven E. Calvery, director of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, reports that although there is little to no evidence, they believe it was a riffle. Each window of the building is bullet proof, so the bullets merely shattered the windows halting penetration. No one was injured in the incident, however it did cause a 40-minute facility and I-395 shutdown.

The book will be leaked in its entirety...but in a pretty cool, unorthodox fashion. Each page of the book is to be released to the public before it hit shelves. The intention is to create a worldwide advertising campaign, that will see pages of the books "placed on objects never before used as advertising."

Dr. Marc Lamont Hill Sues Philly Police Dept.

Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, has filed a $1 Million lawsuit against the most loved men in Philly! Sarcasm. Apparently, back on June 12th, Dr. Hill was pulled over, grabbed out of his vehicle, and physically and verbally harassed by two PPD officers. Why am I not surprised?

The breakdown, or at least what the suit reads:
Around 12:30 a.m. on June 12, as he was dropping off a passenger, at 11th & Lindley Ave in Logan, Officer Richard DeCoatsworth and his partner pulled up behind him and motioned for him to move his car.

Hill indicated to the cops that he was dropping someone off, and would move immediately. The cops drove away.

As Hill pulled off, he claims DeCoatsworth pulled him over. Though he wouldn't tell him why at first, DeCoatsworth's unnamed partner later said it was for "illegal discharge of a passenger and blocking the street."

During the stop, Hill claims DeCoatsworth and his partner searched his car without a warrant or permission and that DeCoatsworth went through his pockets and dragged him out of the car by his left arm. DeCoatsworth then slammed Hill against his vehicle, pushed his fist into Hill's back and threatened to take him to jail, the suit alleges. Hill claims that DeCoatsworth also asked whether he could afford his car and went through his checkbook.

Hill was eventually let go and told to get out of the neighborhood without ever being cited or arrested.

How crazy is that?!?!?!

I hope that he gets every dime and more...then I hope he donates a portion of it to his Alma Mater, The BEST High School in the City.

I'm not sure when it started exactly, but the dead beat parent is almost automatically assumed to be the male figure of the parent-child relationship, sometimes it even boils down to the male-female relationship. There are SOME of you ("some" meaning not all) single mothers, who bash a man's ability to effectively raise the child(ren) you share together, simply due to the fact that HE doesn't want anything to do with YOU! Why is that? I mean, I know several fathers who are phenomenal at what they do...pause...and the scariest part of that characteristic is...they're only going to get better at the whole parenting thing.

There have been pricing leaks for the Galaxy Tab floating around. Before you get excited though, you should probably know that neither Samsung--the Galaxy Tab's maker--nor its retail launch carriers have confirmed the pricing information.

"The latest leak presumably comes from T-Mobile USA, and if the leaked presentation slide is to be believed, T-Mobile USA will be offering the Android-based 7-inch tablet for $650 sans contract and $400 with a 2-year service agreement. Unfortunately though, the non-subsidized price is in excess of the rival iOS iPad from Apple."

I figured AT&T (and T-Mobile) foresaw the loss of the exclusive grip on the iPhone. So after linking up with Microsoft, they plan to drop a trio of smartphones just in time for the holiday season..."it's about to go down."

The first drop of the new Windows Phone 7 handsets will be the Samsung Focus, a 1GHz handset with a 4-inch Super AMOLED display (think Android-powered Galaxy screen) and a 5-megapixel camera. The Focus will is said to be the slimmest Windows Phone in the U.S. at a mere 9.9mm thick. The release date on that is November 8th for $199 with a new two-year contract.

A few weeks later, look for the HTC Surround, a handset with a 3.8-inch display, a 5-megapixel camera, 16GB of on-board storage, and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor as well. This one will have support for Dolby Mobile and slide-up SRS surround speakers. NIIICE! As with the Focus, the Surround will sell for $199 with a two-year contract.

And rounding up, AT&T's 3rd Windows Phone 7 handset release will be the LG Quantum. It is equipped with the same basic specs as the Focus and the Surround (1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel camera) along with a 3.5-inch display, a slide-out QWERTY keypad, 16GB of internal storage and DLNA support for sharing media with local, DLNA-compatible PCs, HDTVs, etc. Damage: $199 (seems like the norm), with a two-year contract, with the handset coming out around the same time as the Surround.

Oh, no worry T-Mobile customers, they have some tricks up their sleeves too...for details...this is the move.

Next Bourne Movie: No Bourne

The next installment in the Jason Bourne series will be called, "The Bourne Legacy." But dig this…Jason Bourne won't be in it! That sounds crazy right? Apparently, after Bourne line director, Paul Greengrass left the franchise, star, Matt Damon swore to never do another Bourne joint. Wow. The studio must think that, "Michael Clayton" director Tony Gilroy is capable of doing Greengrass's AND Damon's job! Good luck with those opening weekend numbers…

It seems like all brick walls for Atlanta rapper, Young Jeezy. After smashing single "Loose My Mind," (March 2010) he hasn't really been able to generate the buzz of old. Justin Bieber's Nail Polish

It's called "One Less Lonely Girl," and it will launch exclusively at Wal*Mart, just in time for the holidays. He'll first drop six shades, all names inspired by his hit singles. Look for "One Less Lonely Glitter" (lavender), "Prized Possession Purple" (grape), "Give Me the First Dance" (silver), "Me + Blue" (dark blue), "OMB!" (bright red) and "Step 2 the Beat of My Heart" (heart-shaped glitter). An additional eight will follow in January...and by February you should be able to find them at Target, Sears, and some other mass merchandisers.

His first book hits shelves tomorrow, titled "Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever: My Story," and I'm sure it'll be EVERYWHERE.
