Mustafa Shakur. Remember him? Well, you should. Former Arizona Wildcat, has been "called-up" from The National Basketball Association Developmental League's Tulsa 66ers to the Washington Wizards. With the Wiz currently operating with rookie PG John Wall and veteran G Kirk Hinrich, they looked to add more depth in their guard position. Staf seems to be the perfect fit for the organization.
Shakur, a fourth-year pro, was averaging 18.4 points, 6.0 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.0 steals this month while making 51 percent of his field goal attempts with Tulsa. In his 69 game D-League career, the consistent point guard is averaging 18.4 points, 6.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 2.1 steals. His play last season in the D-League earned him an end of season call-up to the Oklahoma City Thunder as well as a training camp invite with the New Orleans Hornets this past preseason.
The moved proved to be for the win…literally…as the Wizards ousted the Celtics, snapping Boston's 5-game win streak. Shakur collected 5 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, 2 blocks, 0 turnovers, and shot 50% from the field in only 10 minutes of play.
