Roc Nation Logo Scandal???

Roc Nation. Have you ever heard of them?

If not, that's Jay-Z's mega entertainment company responsible for the outlet of Willow Smith J. Cole and himself, and the management of Rihanna, Wale, and probably one day soon, his wife, Beyonce.

Anyway, the imprint has been tagged with a trademark infringement lawsuit, over the diamond shaped logo the brand uses. Seems like Jay can't flea the lawsuit traffic he's been getting lately. In addition to the trademark infringement, the suit also bring false designation of origin, trademark dilution, unfair competition and a few other charges.

Volcom. Ever heard of them? I'll wait... ... ... Me neither.

They're is a lifestyle brand that manufactures urban apparel, denim and other clothing accessories. They also claim to own the exclusive trademark rights for the logo design. The company filed the lawsuit against Roc Nation in the Central District of California on Tuesday, March 29th.

According to the complaint, Roc Nation's logo is too close to their own, which they have been using in trade since 1991. In addition, Volcom claims the logo could create confusion in the marketplace, since their imprint, Volcom Entertainment, also uses a similar, registered trademark.

"While Roc Nation appears to have initially used the diamond only in combination with the words 'Roc Nation' it is now using the diamond logo on its own, causing a likelihood of confusion among consumers," Volcom's complaint states.

Volcom's complaint says they notified Roc Nation that the logo infringed on their trademark rights, but the company ignored the requests to stop using it.

Volcom seeks an injunction against Roc Nation from using the logo and is seeking to have all product bearing similar trademarks to be destroyed. Apparently the lawsuit claims Volcom has invested over $100,000,000 in marketing their logo. That's a lot of guap, and quite frankly, this long shot is worth it.

Breezy performed on Tuesday night's "Dancing With the Stars." In my opinion, he killed it.

#DWTS cast members had mixed feelings about his appearing on the show.

Dancing professional Cheryl Burke, also a victim of domestic violence, isn't the biggest Brown fan. "As a victim of domestic violence, I don't agree with him coming on the show, but it's out of my control," Burke told Extra.

On the other hand, celebrity contestant and talk show host, Wendy Williams: "I can't wait, I can't wait! What's gonna happen?" she told Extra before the show started.

On Monday, #DWTS host Tom Bergeron said he wasn't exactly eager to talk to Brown. Stating, "I did tell the producers it may be to their advantage to not have me interview him, because my natural tendency would be to say something. So, don't put me in a position where you are asking me not to say something, because I really won't do that," on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show.

Although I do note condone what Chris is responsible for, he deserves an ovation when he's earned it. And for heaven's sake...for this performance...give the kid his props! Check it AFTER THE JUMP.

The Cavs get some revenge on LeBron and MIAMI

Every team takes Ls, we know this. Its the NBA and you can lose to anyone on any given night if you are not prepared. But this Loss hit home for LeBron despite what he may say, i believe he wanted to go into Cleveland and destroy his old team. But the Heat were not able to pull it off, the strong point being the bench of the Cavs destroyed Miami's bench.

Another issue I have is LeBron skipping pre-game announcements. He claims he was in the restroom, I'M NOT BUYING IT!

But nevertheless the playoffs begin in April and the Heat will be there and the Cavs won't. Its sad to say but, this win may be the highlight of Cleveland's season.

Beyonce and Dad Part Ways

Until recently, Matthew Knowles was known for helping his daughter become a household name as well as a worldwide success. His current job title is now former manager of Beyonce Knowles. Knowles and her father both released statements claiming that the split was both a mutual and amicable decision. One may wonder whether or not the parting has anything to do with Matthew having an extramarital affair and a child out of wedlock as a result. Former Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams both chose to fire Beyonce’s father as their managers too. Could it just be that these women’s professional relationship with the elder Knowles has run its course or is the issue of their split much deeper than it appears?

NBA To Investigate Jay-Z Kentucky Visit

So apparently Jay-Z's visit to Kentucky's locker room AFTER THE WIN, may have been illegal.

Hov must have forgotten this was on his resume: "New Jersey Nets Minority Owner." The rapper presumably has a relationship with Kentucky (and former Nets) coach John Calipari through William "Worldwide Wes" Wesley.

Here's the issue though, NBA team personnel aren't allowed to make ANY contact with college players before they declare for the draft. None. Zero. Zip. Don't even come close. The Wildcats' roster features a pair of potential lottery picks. (SEE: Freshman F/C Enes Kantor & Freshman SF Terrence Jones)

Ken Berger of CBS reports that the NBA will thoroughly investigate the matter and cites a previous case where Celtics GM Danny Ainge sat with Kevin Durant's mother at the Big 12 Tournament back in 2007. Ainge was fined $30,000.

Here's something a little different for you all...

Last year, a global study conducted by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and the University of Kentucky found that 95% of pest-control professionals had treated a bedbug infestation in the past year. 76% agreed that bedbugs were the most difficult pests to treat. That report called today’s infestations, up nearly 75% from a decade ago, a “bedbug pandemic.”

NPMA members are not only treating bedbugs in homes and hotels, but restaurants, hospitals, subways, buses, taxis, movie theaters, libraries, and offices. Some 35 percent of pest managers had treated college dorms. Even elementary schools reported bedbug infestations. (Sidenote: Children are already dirty, if YOUR child is the extra dirty one...keep him or her home. Please and thank you.)

What they look like: Flat, oval and light tan to rusty brown. Size? Think tomato seed.

Where they can be found: They hide in crevices (word to @ImMurphysLaw) of beds, bedding, photo frames, behind baseboards and under older carpets. According to the NPMA, 93% of bedbugs’ “harborage” is either on the bed itself (70%) or within five feet of the bed.

How you would be able to tell: They often leave evidence: blood-speckled sheets, or brown or black spots on bedclothes, which can be classified as bedbug droppings. They often leave their molted skins behind.

Should you be afraid?

Well, no. They can be dealt with. But time is of the essence. And just in case you're wondering, no bedbugs can’t fly, but they’re phenomenal climbers. Their bites are itchy welts, often in lines on the skin (from one bug biting repeatedly). The bites can cause an allergic reaction, but aren’t dangerous to health.

Although the cause of the bedbug epidemic is a mystery, many experts suspect that it stems from increased worldwide travel, as people unknowingly transport the pests in suitcases, handbags and clothing after leaving an infested room.

In short, leave your stuff where ever you left your stuff.

Bedbugs can live up to 300 days and can lay several hundred eggs. To locate the critters, some pest management companies are now using specially trained dogs to sniff out the pests.

Ridding bedbugs is no DIY project by any means. Experts ACROSS THE BOARD recommend calling a professional exterminator as soon as an infestation is even merely suspected! Two treatment minimum is standard, in addition to a follow-up visit.

R.I.P.: Dj Megatron

DJ Megatron of Hot 97...shot and killed.

Megatron, born Corey McGriff, was shot and killed early Sunday (3.27.2011) in Staten Island, New York. Reports state McGriff was en route to a store around 2AM when he was shot in the chest, in what appears to be an attempted robbery.

Claims from eye witnesses report that at least four men were seen running from the fatal shooting. The bullet ripped through his rib cage and made its way to his lung and heart.

Megatron gained a substantial amount of popularity, not only for his slot on Hot 97, but also from his frequent appearances on BET's "106 & Park."

Currently, no arrests have been made.

Team SCREAM @ ME, is praying for the family, friends, and others affected by the loss of yet another musical icon.

Jay-Z Surprises A Lucky Final Four Seed

As if securing their program's first Final Four berth since 1998 weren't excitement enough for Kentucky players, the Wildcats had a surprise guest waiting for them outside their locker room after Sunday's victory over North Carolina. On Sunday, rap mogul, Jay-Z surprised the Kentucky University Wildcats after they managed to top (and it kills me to report this...) Roy Williams and the University of North Carolina Tar Heels to secure the program's first Final Four berth since 1998.

Jay shook hands, snapped photos, held babies (not really) and congratulated Kentucky on its accomplishment, immediately following the win in the victors' locker room.

"That in itself was a pretty nice experience to add on to (the Final Four)," guard Darius Miller told the Louisville Courier Journal. "Going to the Final Four (is bigger) by far. But still, Jay-Z. It's crazy. This whole day has been crazy. I'm still taking it all in."

Uh....#pause.

An excited freshman forward Terrence Jones on Sunday: "I said, 'Oh that's Jay-Z!'" Jones told the Courier-Journal. "We all gave him a handshake and he came in the locker room, and we just kept screaming 'Jay-Z in the locker room!' He congratulated us, just said he was proud of us."

The visit from Jay-Z was reminiscent of last year's NCAA tournament when rapper Drake would regularly show up in the Kentucky locker room after victories. He later invited the Wildcats on stage during an off season show in Lexington, also leading a C-A-T-S cheer and performing the John Wall dance on stage.

The 'Cats have an almost suspect association with celebrities. In addition to Jay-Z, you're liable to catch the likes of Ashley Judd, Drake and LeBron James supporting, leading chants, and taking pictures with players, faculty and coaching staff. I guess it counts as just another perk former New Jersey Nets and Memphis Tigers, Coach Calipari can emphasize to give Kentucky an advantage in recruiting the nation's top level talent. But I almost kind of smell an additional ulterior motive here...

Chad Ochocinco to play Major League Soccer???

As we all know the NFL is in a lockout. Meaning NO FOOTBALL until further word. So what will NFL players do? Most players have financially prepared for this very moment. But the players are not allowed to practice, and they may miss game time. So what will the players do with their spare time, and to stay in shape?

Well Chad Ochocinco of the Cincinnati Bengals has decided try out soccer! Yup, soccer. Chad is trying out for Kansas City's Major League Soccer team. He has been trying out for four days and is very serious about making the team. Chad says that soccer was his first sport of choice. His grandmother is the one who persuaded him to take football serious after the 10Th grade.

Chad also stated that is was not about the money and that he would play for free! He is playing to stay in shape and for the love of the sport he has always had. He said that conditioning was an early issue as he expected. Obviously, because Chad hasn't ran at this pace since the end of the Bengals season. But keep an eye out for Chad Ochocinco possibly on the soccer field this season until the NFL and its PLAYERS work out this madness.

You don't puff your face up and take snapshots and only post those on Facebook. As a matter of fact, I sometimes kind of wish YOU would consider throwing some on. Just jokes…

What Is with Charlie Sheen’s Public Persona?

He believes he has tiger blood running through his veins. He is winning in life. He has two goddesses that live with him and occasionally babysit his two young twin boys. If you have not heard already, these thoughts are directly associated with Charlie Sheen. Sheen was recently fired from television’s top rated comedy show “Two and Half Men.” The show not only allowed the troubled actor to regain his status in Hollywood but it also permitted him to be the highest paid actor on television. Sheen and CBS are currently in a dispute on whether the network had a reasonable argument for letting him go. Every media outlet in the past couple of weeks has featured stories focusing on Sheen and his frequent erratic behavior. Sheen himself has allowed the media into his home to see what takes place behind closed doors. He appears to have lost weight. He tends to ramble incoherently and stated that he cured his battle with drug use and alcohol with the power from his own mind. It seems the more bizarre Charlie Sheen behaves, the more the public takes notice and wants to see more. It has been reported that the unemployed actor has booked appearances across country to discuss his newly found theories and ideologies. Many of these appearances have already sold out. What is apparent is that Sheen has gone through a severe transition in the last couple of weeks and should the public be partly to blame for encouraging his continued popularity? Has Sheen gone from being famous to being infamous? He has always been known for being a bad boy but should not his struggle with addiction be the main focus than his silly antics?

Felicia “Snoop” Pearson of the HBO hit series “The Wire” was arrested on March 10th along with 63 other individuals in connection with a major drug operation. Pearson who claims to be innocent rose to fame as a “no-nonsense” drug dealer on the show but it seems she cannot separate the role she played to who she is in reality. The recent offense is not the actress’ first tangle with the law. At the age of 14, Pearson was charged with second-degree murder and served time for the crime. Should actors and actresses who have had troubled pasts play roles which mirror situations that they experienced in their own lives? Could their past history serve as a source for them to draw inspiration from or does it hinder them from improving their lives onscreen as well as off?

XXL Magazine really stepped this year's Freshman Class promo all the way up.

Reminiscent of a BET Hip-Hop award show cypher segment, they've thrown together their own. the first of a three part project includes Freshmen YG, Mack Miller, Diggy Simmons, and Lil Twist.

It would've been Pretty Damn Dope to see the likes of Wiz, Wale, Asher Rother, J. Cole, B.o.B., Charles Hamilton, Ace Hood, Curren$y, Cory Gunz, Mickey Fatz, Nipsey Hustle, and Big Sean...but, Big Ups to the 2011 class though.

Sixers beat Celtics in Philly

I attended this game and there were a large number of Celtics fans in attendance. It felt great to see there sad faces after the Sixers handed them a Loss. (#TeamLakers)

Shoutout to JP, the night before he told me the Sixers would win this game. Good call JP.

Jimmer Fredette drops 52 points!!!

All I think about when I see this kid is, How will his talents transfer to the NBA? He is an amazing college player, arguably the best in college basketball. But we will see soon. Great game Jimmer.

NFL Lockout is OFFICIAL!

As of midnight the Owners conducted a league wide lockout. Players can't contact coaches, use facilities, no practice, no treatment. Also no signings or trades or any kind of front office moves can be made. The NFL draft has is still on schedule. For those who don't know. A lockout is the opposite of a Strike. The employers lock out the employees, disabling them from work. The players have filed with the courts to block the lockout. Now its a waiting game to see how many games the NFL could miss, if any, or even the season.
