Welcome Home Nnamdi Asomugha...

Nnamdi Asomugha has agreed to a $60 million/5 year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, a league source reported to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The former Oakland Raiders cornerback appeared headed to the Dallas Cowboys, but Asomugha's agent said Friday evening the Cowboys were not in consideration.

The Eagles also confirmed the signings of defensive end Jason Babin, tight end Donald Lee and wide receiver Johnnie Lee Higgins on Twitter Friday.

Asomugha will join an Eagles secondary that includes accomplished cornerback Asante Samuel and the recently-acquired Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

I'm placing ALL BETS on my Birds this season...sorry, that was not an "informative" closing statement. #SueMe.

NFL: McNabb soon to be a Viking? (Deal in Place)

The Redskins, Vikings, and McNabb have a preliminary deal in place and have apparently agreed to terms.

The sides have seemingly ironed out the kinks in the deal. It seems that the Redskins will receive two 6th round draft picks from Minnesota for McNabb. One pick in 2012 and one in 2013.

Sources say the fact that Minnesota seems to really help McNabb meant a lot to him and his family. Especially after the turmoil in Washington last season.

The deal is not officially done but is said to be official by the end of the day.

NFL: Santonio Holmes Agrees to Deal With JETS!

If the New York Jets had a to do list, signing Santonio Holmes would have been #1 on the list, and they did JUST THAT. Holmes and the Jets have agreed to terms. Holmes agrees to a 5 year, $50 million deal, $24 million guaranteed. That is the highest guarantee ever for a Wide Receiver in league history.

In only 12 games last season Holmes had 52 receptions, 746 yards, and 6 touchdowns.

Congrats to Holmes and the Jets.

NFL: Carson Palmer Forced to Retire?

Carson Palmer has been threatening to retire if he is not traded. Palmer, the Quarterback of the Cincinnati Bengals is obviously not happen with his organization and the direction they are going. The Bengals are one of the worst overall franchises in the history of the NFL. They have only had 2 winning seasons in the past 20 years!

Bengals owner Mike Brown, is not backing down from his decision. He stated that he will not trade Carson Palmer.

Palmer has 4 years remaining on his contract with the Bengals.

Browns Words on Palmer:

“I honestly like Carson Palmer,” Brown said. “He was a splendid player for us. He’s a good person. I wish him well. And he is retired. That is his choice. … I’m not expecting him to be back.”

“Carson signed a contract. He made a commitment. He gave his word,” Brown said. “We relied on his word. We relied on his commitment. We expected him to perform here. He’s going to walk away from his commitment. We aren’t going to reward him for doing it.”

We'll see what happens in the standoff soon!

NFL: Matt Hasselbeck agrees to Terms, signs with Titans

Talks have been going on for the past few days between Hasselbeck and the Titans. Sources close to the situation have reported that the two sides have reached a deal that will bring Hasselback to Nashville next season. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed yet.

The Titans have obvious quarterback needs. They plan to let Vince Young go, and the veteran Kerry Collins retired after the season. With the 8th overall pick in the draft the Titans drafted Jake Locker. Most teams would rather not start a rookie QB, especially with the summer cut shorty due to the lockout. The presence of Hasselbeck in front of Locker could help Locker and the Titans in the long run.

R.I.P. Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse died earlier today (Saturday, July 23, 2011) at 27 years of age.

Other talented-yet-troubled musicians, from Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and thee Kurt Cobain himself, also died at the ripe age of 27. But wait, who's surprised? I'll wait. The songstress's death is probably one of the least surprising tragedies in pop culture's recent memory.

We've been watching Amy Winehouse kill herself (figuratively) since at least 2006. It was 2007 when the United States music scene got hip to Winehouse. She cleaned house at the Grammy Awards in 2008, snatching Record of the Year for "Rehab," Best New Artists, and Song of the Year for "Rehab."

She was introduced to the world as a self-destructing genius with a beautiful voice. Who helped her though? I'm sure many have tried. But what I'm also sure of not many succeeded. Self-destructive Amy…it's the only way we've ever known her, so none of her signature antics leading up to this were really all that surprising when they occurred.

Sad story? Yes. Surprising? No.

KICK GAME: *NEW* Nike Foamposite One (Varsity Red/Black/White)

The Foamposite One looks to be finishing off the year and starting 2012 for Nike. The Foamposite Pro has made recent colorways with the electric blue, and the dark pine coming. But out of the new releases I've seen for upcoming Foamposite Ones, these "Varsity Red" Foams stood out to me the most!

They consist of an entirely Red Foamposite upper, Black lacing and accents finished off with the clear translucent sole. These look to be a sure hit. They are scheduled for a February 2012 release. As new pics surface and if the dates change we will let you know here @ S@M.com

Robert Horry says #LAKERS PG FISHER must go

A lot of Lakers fans including MYSELF have stated that the Lakers have a weakness at the PG position. Don't get me wrong he does help the team and has made numerous big shots for the Lakers but there are also things that he can no longer do. He's constantly a defense liability. The league is changing and is full of young, fast dynamic, athletic Point Guards that cause match up problems for the aging Fisher. Also Shannon Brown has opted out of his contract, and Steve Blake did not played up to his potential last season. PG depth is definitely a concern, maybe that is why LA drafted two guards in this years draft.

It seems that many Lakers players or members of the organization don't address that as a concern, at least not publicly. And maybe they shouldn't. But it's rare that you see ex teammates, especially ones that have won multiple titles together take shots at each other. Well Robert Horry has done just that. He does state that he is not dissin Horry, but just stating the obvious. He believes that Fish should not be the Lakers starting PG any longer.

Why Lil Wayne is Mad @ LeBRON and WADE !!!

Lil Tunechi snapped out in the Rolling Stones Magazine recently. It was actually kind of hilarious to me.
Wayne is mad because he spends all that money on tickets to sit courtside at numerous Miami Heat games and LeBron and Wade never show him any love. Despite how they communicate with other celebrities and fans they show no love Tunechi's way lol. Maybe it has a lot to do with the Wayne publicly stating that he doesn't route for Miami. Or maybe Bron doesn't like the Kobe Bryant song Wayne dropped taking some shots at LBJ.

“When Wayne sat court-side at a recent Miami Heat/New Orleans Hornets game he was upset that Lebron James and Dwayne Wade never came over to talk to him. ‘Them ni**as never speak to a ni**a,’ he says. ‘They don’t chuck me the deuce or nothing. Derrick Williams (#2 Pick) Signs a Sneaker Deal !!!

Derrick Williams announces the sneakers he will be rockin this season (depending on lockout) and it may be a surprise to some. Nope not Nike, Reebok, Jordan, or Adidas. Williams is joining Kemba Walker and Brandon Jennings and taking his talents to Under Armour! I don't know what the folks @ Under Armour are preaching to these kids but one thing is sure...they are signing some college studs! They are jumping at young talent especially after recently signing Kemba Walker.

Records? I Break Those: Harry Potter's Finale

You've heard the buzz...Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 has been breaking box office records for the past FIVE DAYS now. The film currently holds the title for highest midnight gross ($43.5 million), highest single day gross ($92 million, on Friday), highest domestic opening weekend ($169.2 million), and highest global opening weekend ($478.2 million).

Totaling that up, the film has earned a remarkable $542.5 million worldwide in just four days...five if you count Thursday. *shrugs*

We're here to inform you you can add one more record to that list...Highest IMAX opening weekend! $15.2 milli from domestic IMAX showings this weekend for a sizzling $55,000 per theater average. Internationally, the film picked up another $8 million on IMAX screens, giving it $23.2 million worldwide. That puts it just ahead of fellow 3-D blockbuster Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which pulled in $23.1 million from IMAX screenings worldwide. I've added my dollars to both accounts...if you need some convincing for Potter though...

To me, this is a little crazy...and kind of gasses fans up for something that might not even actually go down. But, I understand...moving forward as usual.

Who's Really Winning? Google? Apple? or Microsoft?

Google Inc.'s former Chief Executive Eric Schmidt had some pretty candid terms of endearment for rival organization Apple, Inc. earlier today. At the Mobile Revolution conference in Tokyo, Schmidt snapped at Apple stating:

The big news in the past year has been the explosion of Google Android handsets and this means our competitors are responding. Because they are not responding with innovation, they’re responding with lawsuits. We have not done anything wrong and these lawsuits are just inspired by our success.

Steve Jobs is a genius. Period. However Apple, who hasn't released a new handset in over a year, is currently in the midst of taking the world's top three Android handset makers -- HTC, Motorola and Samsung straight to the bank via the courtroom. All three companies have responded back with counter suits, but already one of the companies looks to be in some serious danger.

A U.S. International Trade Commission judge found that HTC's products violated two of Apple's broad technology patents. The ruling opens the way for Apple to secure an injunction to block shipments of HTC products into the U.S. That in turn means less competition for Apple, at least within United States territory.

Google was unable to successfully spin the HTC news as a win on their behalf. The shouldn't have even attempted that to be honest. No matter how hard they try, or how they view the HTC outcome, the preliminary infringement ruling covered technology that's deeply tied to the Android operating system.

Google faces similar headaches from another rival in Microsoft. HTC has agreed to pay Microsoft a reported $5 to $10 USD per handset. It may seem like a small amount there...but at the end of the fiscal, it's a ton. Now Microsoft wants $15 per handset Samsung sells and is using the threat of a lawsuit to try to drive a deal home.

The timing of these lawsuits hardly seems coincidental. Microsoft's hopes for Windows Phone 7 have fallen flat as the OS has failed to generate any market momentum, thus far, and has only a tiny smart phone market share. Similarly Apple, is getting outsold over two-to-one by Google.

Apparently Apple and Microsoft are in violation of each others' patents. But apparently, when you share an enemy, you briefly become the best of friends. It seems to me Google goes home with the most haters... and when you have the most haters. You win.

3D is the new wave. If you are not aware, you clearly live under a rock. *cue the Geico commercial* Despite the most recent #D game introduction to Sony's PS3 gaming department, the titanic company is preparing to take a step toward virtual gaming once again. Once again? Yes, again. SEE: Virtual Boy. Sony showed off a virtual reality device in a head-mounted display at the CES festival earlier this year and are moving ahead with testing. That means it should be on the shelves of your favorite -mart stores in no time.

The unit maintains a "slim and sexy" design and also features twin-OLED screens. How exciting...

Beyonce’s Father Addresses Theft Accusations

Matthew Knowles has been pretty busy lately. Busy in terms of suing entertainment companies and trying to clear up his (already controversial) name. The elder Knowles filed papers against Live Nation Entertainment over allegations that he stole money from his famous daughter, Beyonce. During an Associated Press interview, Knowles said that “We have absolutely have not taken any money from Beyonce, and all dollars will be accounted for.”He also believes that the only way the matter should and can be handled should be in the court of law. He stated that he and Beyonce are on good terms but they have not spoken since they parted ways as manager and client. The “1+1” singer is now signed to a joint management deal with Live Nation Entertainment and Roc Nation which her husband, Jay-Z owns. Which makes one wonder how big of a part did Jay-Z play in Beyonce’s new management decision. Maybe there can only be one important man in the singer’s life.
