As most of us know, the Air Jordan XI "Concords" released today, December 23, 2011. Due to anticipation, limited amounts of shoes, and high demand, numerous retailers had special release events making the shoe available at Midnight EST. The lines for the shoe are comparable to Black Friday lines, rapping around blocks, and stretching through malls, hours (possibly days) before the release.
In the wee hours of the morning, 18 year old Tyreek Amir Jacobs was killed in line attempting to purchase the shoes. Tyreek was a DC native, and that is where this brutal crime occurred. Tyreek was apparently stabbed during an altercation. The full details are not available at this time.
This is absolutely ridiculous, nobody should lose their lives over a pair of shoes.
RIP, and our condolences go out to the family of the victim.
