What We Missed: The S@M!!! Briefing

It has been a while, right? We want to sincerely apologize for the neglect... I have been a little busy, but I promise Team SCREAMATME.com has some very special content to share with you over the coming months.

There have been a few events that occurred over the past few days that are note worthy, let's take this space to run them down...

The Beyhive went crazy on Sunday night [03.17.2013] when Beyonce and her team decided to release the latest from the Houston, TX recording diva. "Bow Down / I Been On" is not the typical sound we've all grown to know and love from King Bey. In fact, this particular track features an edgier songstress, and reinforces the fact that she is indeed at the top of her game and occupying the throne the industry reserves for the crème de la crème. In a very rapper-esque style, she sets a braggadocious tone to the recording, sure to have already sparked the "who could she be talking about" controversy and chatter among her massive audience.

The "Bow Down" portion of the song was produced by the game's new smash maker, Hit-Boy, while "I Been On" garnered the contributions of Polow Da Don, Timbaland, Sonny Digital and Planet VI. Throughout the latter, Bey channels her inner Houston by implementing the region's signature Chopped and Screwed effect over her vocals.

Definitely worth a few listens, as this is something completely unexpected from the usually reserved Beyonce. However, it simultaneously makes too much sense as she preps for her Mrs. Carter World Tour scheduled to launch on April 15th at the Kombank Arena in Belgrade, Serbia. Lucky Number 7: Rihanna for River Island

On November 19, 2012, 25-year-old, Barbadian megastar, Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty released her seventh studio album, Unapologetic (Island Def Jam Music Group). Surrounding the release, she chartered a Boeing 777 jet, and stopped in seven countries in seven days for her critically acclaimed “777 Tour.” Moreover, exactly seven days ago – to date, with UK-based retailer – River Island, the pop sensation released her signature line, “Rihanna for River Island” …wait for it… in seven different cities including London, New York, Dublin, Amsterdam, Moscow, Warsaw and Dubai. How many sets of “sevens” did you count there?

A collaboration for the history books...as Kendrick Lamar and Top Dawg Entertainment roll out the remix to good kid, m.A.A.d. city's "Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe" featuring the one and only, JAY-Z. The duo run the Sounwave-produced track into the ground with gut-punching lyrical delivery and superb flow. We've grown to expect nothing less from either one of the emcees.

The song and strategic artwork undoubtedly raise the question: is Kendrick next? And you all know exactly what I mean by "next." Judging by the critical reception and success of Kendrick's debut album, and MTV's claim, there exists a valid argument. But, I encourage music and Hip-Hop culture fans to avoid that debate for now, and simply enjoy the remix.
