We Out: Eddie Murphy Bows Out Of Oscar's Gig

Do you all remember when we said Eddie Murphy would be hosting (historically) the most difficult award show ever? Yeah, well scratch that.

Eddie Murphy has decided to step out of his role as host of the 2012 Academy Awards. His decision immediately follows that of friend, and supposed show executive producer Brett Ratner, who's decision to leave the show came on Wednesday as a result of an uproar over a homosexual slur.

Ratner exited amid criticism of his use of a "pejorative" term for gay men in a Q&A session at a screening of his action comedy Tower Heist. Which debuted last weekend to the tune of $24.03 Million, filling the #2 spot (Puss in Boots, $33 Million) and stars Murphy and Ben Stiller.

Keeping it cordial Murphy stated in a news release via the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science, "I completely understand and support each party's decision with regard to a change of producers for this year's Academy Awards ceremony. I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I'm sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job."

Ratner has since apologized for the slur, saying his comments had been "hurtful and stupid."

Welp, so much for me tuning in. But I promise SCREAMATME.com will either have or direct you to a comprehensive list of winners and show highlights.
