Shannon Brown To Phoenix Suns

According to ESPN, unrestricted free agent and former Los Angeles Lakers guard Shannon Brown will sign a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the Phoenix Suns.

This past June, Brown opted out of his contract with the Lakers for the 2011-12 season that would have paid him approximately $2.4 million. At 25, he had played for four different teams in his first four seasons. He just started to find his role as a back up to Kobe Bryant just 2½ seasons ago in L.A.

He averaged a career-high 8.7 points per game in 2010-11, along with 1.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.

Look for the deal to go through Friday around 2 p.m. ET, when the league's gives the green light to teams and players to conduct this type of business freely under the new collective bargaining agreement. A source familiar with the Lakers' thinking told ESPNLosAngeles.com last week that L.A. has interest in Boston free agent guard Delonte West and Indiana free agent forward Josh McRoberts.
